History Makes Great Company We are proud that the Town of Ridgefield is so rich in history.  Our own Ridgefield Community Center, one of Ridgefield’s most valuable resources, was built in 1896 by Phineas C. Lounsbury, a former Governor of Connecticut.  This stately Main Street mansion is home to many cultural, educational, recreational and philanthropic activities for the benefit of the town. The Keeler Tavern Museum, listed on the national Register of Historic Places maintains a treasured collection of artwork, textiles, and decorative objects and is replete with historic gardens that are open to the public. Weir Farm also calls Ridgefield “home”.  This wonderful historic property is the only National Park Service property in Connecticut and preserves the farm of J. Alden Weir, a painter of American Impressionism style.  The site includes an art center and gallery.
